Who
is Project T.R.U.S.T.?
Project T.R.U.S.T. (Teaching Responsibility & Understanding of Sexuality & Teen development) is a group of dedicated local teens age 15-18.
They come from a variety of Battle Creek schools, cultures, backgrounds,
and are male & female.
These
teens receive comprehensive training on medically-accurate, age-appropriate
and responsible sexuality education and then are certified
to become “peer
educators and trainers.”
Our Educators are Volunteers Because...
"I think sexuality education is important especially for people my age, and it's somewhere where I can actually make a difference."
"Project T.R.U.S.T. is important to me because I believe everyone deserves lifelong healthy sexuality."
"I joined Project T.R.U.S.T. because I noticed a lack of correct, medically accurate information about sexuality for people my age. Through Project T.R.U.S.T., I was given the tools to
help my peers by dispelling myths and implanting truths. Project T.R.U.S.T. has shaped my life in a very positive direction."
"I joined Project T.R.U.S.T. because I want to leave a legacy in Battle Creek before I move on in my life. Everyone can do something to leave a positive impact on their community, and this is my contribution."
"I wanted to join Project T.R.U.S.T. because I felt like at the time, Calhoun County and Battle Creek in specific was failing in teen sex education. We had the highest teen pregnancy rate in the entire state of Michigan. I thought this was a terrible thing, but also a great opportunity to make a large impact in the community. I found out about Project T.R.U.S.T. through a friend, and I immediately became involved. I loved the program and the rapid changes we were making in the community and in our schools, so I decided to commit to another year in the program."
"I want to be in Project T.R.U.S.T. because I want to be an active member of the community and a positive role model to my peers."
"I joined this program 3 years ago to help expand my knowledge on human sexuality and love being involved with Planned Parenthood." |
