Since our founding in 1966,
literally hundreds of thousands of people have benefited from the programs
and
services offered by Planned Parenthood of South Central Michigan. All
of us share the vision that Planned Parenthood will always be here to
provide, promote and protect reproductive health care for the generations
who follow.
A deferred or “planned” gift
to Planned Parenthood as part of your estate plan is a very important
and effective way to
ensure
that our vision will become reality. We are grateful for the foresight
demonstrated by several caring and generous members of our community
who directed that a portion of their estate be transferred to Planned
Parenthood upon their deaths. Revenue produced by the funds created
with their gifts provides significant current support for our education
programs, medical services and general operations.
The Board of Directors
has adopted written policies requiring that these funds be invested
prudently and distributions not deplete principal.
The Endowment Committee is charged with ensuring that these policies
are followed and reports regularly to the Board. The guiding philosophy
is to honor the intent of the donors that their gifts be a permanent
commitment to support the mission and secure the vision of Planned
Parenthood.
How to Become an "Advocate for the
Future"
A
Bequest in a Will
You can name Planned Parenthood to
receive a specific amount of money, property or percentage of your estate;
to receive all
or a portion
of the residual of your estate (the remainder after all specific
bequests to family and friends are fulfilled); or to be the contingent
beneficiary
in the event that primary beneficiaries do not survive you.
A Gift
of Life Insurance
Name Planned Parenthood as owner
or beneficiary.
Retirement Plans
Designate Planned Parenthood as the beneficiary of a retirement
plan. Significant income tax and possible estate taxes can
be avoided.
A Life Income Gift
Receive income for life and benefit from present and future
income tax reductions through a gift annunity. Using appreciated
stock
or real
estate are excellent ways to fund a gift annuity.
A Charitable
Remainder Trust
The most flexible life income gift. Can be structured in many
ways to accommodate
your intent.
A Gift of Real Estate
With a life estate agreement, you may retain your interest
during your lifetime.
To avoid confusion, please designate “Planned
Parenthood of South Central Michigan” as the beneficiary
of any planned gift.
More than 40 individuals or couples have already disclosed to us that
they have included Planned Parenthood of South Central Michigan in
