What
is a "Crisis" Pregnancy Center
Crisis
pregnancy centers (CPCs) are anti-abortion groups (usually religious
extremists) disguised as abortion clinics. Their only goal is to stop
you from having an abortion. Most are staffed by non-medical volunteers.
These
CPC's are often located near legitimate women's health care
centers that offer abortion services (one is now open across
from Planned Parenthood's Kalamazoo Center). They lure in unsuspecting women
with free pregnancy and/or HIV tests. Once inside, women
are subjected to antiabortion propaganda, misinformation and
intimidation in
an attempt to prevent them from having abortions.
